The Spencer-Van Etten Middle School Quiz Team competed in the regional Scholarship Challenge in Sayre on Saturday, placing second for the second consecutive year.

Students Richard, Crosby, Carson, Brady, Caleb, and Connor represented the district in the competition, successfully answering trivia questions as they advanced through the bracket. The annual event brings together teams from across the region to test their knowledge in various academic subjects, promoting critical thinking, teamwork, and quick problem-solving under pressure.

“This achievement reflects the team’s commitment to academic excellence and collaboration. Their ability to think critically under pressure is commendable,” said S-VE Middle School Principal, Patrick Patterson

Academic competitions like the Scholarship Challenge provide students with an opportunity to apply their classroom knowledge in a competitive setting while building confidence, communication skills, and a strong foundation for future academic pursuits.

By participating in events like this, S-VE students engage in real-world problem-solving that prepares them for higher education and career readiness. These competitions challenge students to think independently, work collaboratively, and apply knowledge in a fast-paced environment—skills that are essential beyond the classroom. The district remains committed to offering opportunities that foster academic growth and community involvement.
