For the first time since 1976, a Spencer-Van Etten wrestler has finished on the podium at the state tournament. This historic achievement highlights the dedication and perseverance of the district’s student-athletes, marking a significant milestone for the wrestling program and the S-VE community.

Sophomore Dallas Bohling qualified for the state tournament as the 11th seed in the 114 lbs weight class. After facing the eventual second-place finisher in the first round, Bohling responded with a decisive 51-second pin in the first round of the wrestle-backs. Though she fell in the second round, her performance at the state level is a testament to her skill and determination. With two more seasons ahead, Bohling’s potential for future success is promising.

Senior Tayah Beach finished fourth in the 120 lbs weight class, making history as the first female wrestler from S-VE to place at the state tournament. Her fourth-place finish also marks the program’s first podium placement since 2004, when Kris Bennett finished in the same position. Beach posted a 4-2 record at the tournament, securing her 50th career victory with her first win of the event. As she enters her senior year next season, Beach will return as one of the top-ranked wrestlers in the state with a strong opportunity to compete for a state title.

These achievements are a reflection of the dedication of S-VE’s athletes, coaching staff, and the unwavering support of the community. The district congratulates Dallas Bohling and Tayah Beach on their outstanding performances and looks forward to the continued growth of the S-VE wrestling program.
