Airplanes

Spencer-Van Etten fifth graders recently had a unique opportunity to dive into history through a visit from the REV Theatre group of Auburn. This special event transformed classrooms into spaces of exploration, creativity, and learning as students engaged with the story of aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart.

The day began with an interactive classroom session, where the REV Theatre educators shared insights into Earhart’s life and achievements. Students learned about her courage, groundbreaking achievements in aviation, and her lasting impact as a role model for pursuing dreams fearlessly. To bring Earhart’s story into their own hands, the students then crafted paper airplanes, applying what they’d learned about flight and testing their creations right in the classroom.

The experience culminated with a live performance by the REV Theatre group, bringing the spirit of Amelia Earhart to life on stage. The actors portrayed key moments from Earhart’s journey, providing students with a memorable and impactful way to understand the perseverance and vision that drove her forward. Spencer-Van Etten is grateful to REV Theatre for creating such an inspiring experience, blending hands-on learning with theatrical storytelling to help our students connect with history in an engaging and meaningful way. This event highlights the power of the arts in education, showing that learning can be as exciting and adventurous as Amelia Earhart herself.
