Well-Rounded Students
Goals: We will provide students with access to a variety of educational programs and opportunities in preparation for their chosen pathways.
Students at S-VE middle school may earn at least one credit toward graduation by the time they begin high school.
Develop an authentic program that will address the social and emotional needs of our students (e.g. advisory, town hall meetings, building morning meeting, etc.).
Expose students at all levels to a variety of potential careers. This could be accomplished through MS Career Day and visits from high school students or past graduates.
Hold a Career/College Readiness week.
Middle School staff will reach out to the S-VE Alumni Association for collaboration on potential opportunities for students.
Staff will update maps in the MS cafeteria indicating where they obtained degrees.
Students Expereince
Goals: We will provide a flexibile and indivualized enviroment that meets needs, offers choices and opportunities, and has clear, consistent expectations.
All Middle School students will receive and participate in schoolwide PROWL expectation lessons in the first five days of the academic year and review expectations periodically, immediately following school breaks, and when data shows a need.
PBIS will establish Middle School Tier 2 and 3 thresholds, identify students requiring Tier 2 and Tier 3 inventions and supports, and use proven techniques and evidence-based practices to teach expected behaviors.
Staff will participate in embedded professional learning opportunities by observing colleagues throughout the Middle School using the Classroom Visit framework and reflection.
PBIS will facilitate and provide staff with training and professional development from outside trainer(s) with respect to TCI topics: Identifying Personal Stressors, Avoiding Power Struggles, Strategies for Emotional First Aid, and De-escalation Techniques.
Community Connections
Goals: We will strive to ensure open communication with all community members, encourage understanding, and collaborate to achieve mutually constructed goals.
75% of families will attend Open House.
(1)A PTO group with an embedded principal chat will be created during the 2024 - 2025 school year.
Students enrolled in Civics class will complete a capstone project which focuses on local community action.
