Digital Citizenship Tips: Under New York law, it’s a crime to persuade someone younger than 17 to engage in the making of a sexual or nude image, or to distribute or disseminate child pornography featuring someone younger than 17 (called promoting a sexual performance by a child). It’s also a crime to possess a nude or sexual depiction of someone younger than 16. For example, a teenager who shares a nude photo of a 14 year old girl with his friends could be convicted for possessing and distributing child pornography. The friends could also be convicted of possession of child pornography.
This Saturday, December 14th is the Cookie Walk at McAnn’s Restaurant from 8-11. This is a Project Graduation fund raiser. Please stop in at McAnn’s from 8-11 and fill a box of various cookies and support the Class of 2020.
Reminder to any student applying to the Cornell Summer College that essays are due today to Ms. McKinery.
Congratulations to Christina Beebe and Ezraela Belanger for being November Artists of the Month. Both will receive gift certificates to the Texas Roadhouse!
There will not be a Yearbook meeting this Wednesday. After school however, there will be meetings Tuesday, Thursday and Friday until 4:00. All Yearbook staff should plan on attending at least 2 of these meetings.
The sign up sheet for the Winter Talent Show on December 20th is on the Student Council board outside the Main Office. Auditions are on December 10th during your lunch period.
The Maine College of Art will be visiting today, December 9th during 3rd period in the Art Room. If you are interested in the arts; from animation to woodworking, please see Ms. McKinery for a pass.
NHS is collecting books and toys for the elementary school for the holiday season. If you have any toys/books you would like to donate, there is a donation box in the library.
NHS is collecting pull tabs for the Ronald McDonald House. If you have any pull tabs, there is a jar in the office.
Friday the JV Girls Basketball team defeated Newfield 33-26. They held their composure and played well down the stretch in the 4th quarter. Their next game is tomorrow at Odessa-Montour.

The Teen Space program, serving ages 13 – 16, at the Inspire S-VE Community Center is hosting two Holiday Nights! On December 13th from 4 -6 pm there will be a Gingerbread Cookie Contest. On December 20th from 4 – 6 pm there will be a teen paint night. Sip hot cocoa while painting a picture! For more information about these fun activities call Jenna at 607-223-4066.
Attention 7th and 8th graders. Anyone interested, or that has signed up on Family ID for Modified wrestling, please come over to the High School Wednesday, December 11th for a brief meeting in the art room. Coach Allen and Coach McIntosh will be discussing with you the SVEC wrestling season and to answer any questions you may have. Please attend even if you are not sure.
The Project Grad Cookie Walk to support the graduating class of 2020 is happening on December 14th from 8-11 am at McAnn’s Restaurant.
It is $10 a box one can fill themselves or have a senior fill for them. You can also prepay for your box and it will be filled and delivered Monday morning.
And of course, anyone who would like to donate a batch of cookies to sell, can drop them off at the high school main office, McAnns on the 14th at 7:30am.
